Learning to fly

You said climbing that mountain would be easy
but then why do I feel like I am tripping
if I am supposed to reach those heights
then why am I afraid of slipping.

My ropes are breaking
and I’m afraid I’ll crash on the ground
I am afraid of those peaks now
won’t you help me come down.

Why are you afraid of that open blue?
The heights you fear are fearing you.

Don’t be afraid of that dive
if you don’t hurt yourself
how will you know you’re alive?

You were meant to soar in the highest peaks
not the ground beneath
those harsh winters will give way to spring
let go of your ropes and open up your wings
you’re an eagle of the sky
if you don’t fall down
how will you learn to fly?

  1. So beautiful. I think this could resonate with pretty much everybody at some point in their life. Many of us are afraid of failing, at least some of the time but it’s when we allow that failure to stop us from spreading our wings and like you say, learn to fly. We will fall down, but the only way from down is up. We will have bad days, so we know what the good ones look like. We will embrace mistakes, so we can learn lessons. Again, a truly beautiful piece of writing 🤍
